A Midsummer Night's Dream (2015) - Director's Note
A Midsummer Night’s Dream is the first of William Shakespeare’s plays that I ever read, way back in the days of yore (by which I mean 2007). There’s a big difference between reading the words on the page and seeing the play on the stage, and I could not have asked for a better group of people to show me how it’s done. Directing this show has been equal parts exhilarating, terrifying, hilarious, and everything in between, especially for a first-timer like me. But I could never have predicted how insanely amazing this whole experience has been, and how much I’ve learned from everyone involved. Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart, for bringing this show to life. It’s so much better than I ever imagined.
I want to give special thanks to Graciela Baez-Chavez and Devon Gonzalez. A director could not ask for better crew-turned-cast, and their unending support is astounding, as well as their invaluable friendship. This couldn’t have happened without you guys. Thanks as well to Scott Jackson, our advisor, and Brynn Alexander, our set designer.
To cast and crew:
I’ve had the time of my life. So don’t you forget about me.
Liz
